1. Does my pet need to be up to date on his/her vaccinations?

Yes, you will need to provide a copy of your pet’s rabies and distemper vaccination’s. And for the protect of your pet I also like to keep on file your Veterinarian’s name and phone number.

2. How often should my pet be groomed?

On average dogs should be groomed every 4 to 6 weeks, cats every 6 to 8 weeks. Of course, this depends on the owner’s ability to do daily brush outs. It also depends on your pet’s breed, coat and how often your dog/cat is outside. You may want to your pet to be on a tighter schedule to keep their cuts crisp and looking great. Since I only have one mobile unit, you should try “locking in” an appointment time in advance.

3. Does frequent bathing harm my pet’s coat?

No, veterinarians will encourage you to have your pet groomed on a regular basis. I use high quality natural shampoos and conditioners to help relieve dry, itchy skin. I use a variety of shampoos such as tearless, soothing oatmeal, relaxing lavender, Hypo-allergenic, and tropical blends just to name a few.

4. My cat/dog sheds all the time is there any help for that?

Yes, I can de-shed the coat during and after bathing which helps with the shedding process.

5. My cat/dog is really, really matted, what can you do for him?

I like to offer a pain-free and stress-free experience when your pet comes to see me. It should be a relaxing experience for your pet. First of all I would assess your pet’s coat condition. If totally matted, then we would have you sign a release form saying that I may use clippers on the pet to alleviate the problem. This is the best and most humane way to fix the coat. If we decide to comb out mats that are big then the first 10 minutes are included in the price of grooming after that it’s $1.00 per minute. Usually I tell clients to try and comb out what they can the night before I come for my visit. Just remember it’s more humane to clip out the mats then tug and pull on their coats for a long period of time. After we have fixed the matting problem I like discuss how we can alleviate this in the future by either coming up with a shorter time between appointments or finding a different coat style that would make you and your pet happy.

6. My dog/cat has fleas. How do I get rid of them?

Getting rid of fleas is a two step process. First you must treat the pet, so we would bathe the pet in an environmentally friendly natural shampoo which will eradicate the fleas presently on the pet and help soothe the skin irritations caused by the flea bites. Then I would also use a flea comb to comb out any dead fleas left behind.

The bigger part of the problem is the house and any bedding that the pet is on. You need to vacuum the rugs, hardwood floors and tiles. Then take the bag or container with which you vacuumed and place it in an outside receptacle (trash can) or wash it out outside. Wash any bedding the pets lay on and vacuum the furniture that they sit on. I know this is a huge project but fleas are such pests. Then spray the house with environmentally friendly premise spray. Make sure that it’s safe for children and pets. Talk with your veterinarian and see what they recommend.

7. What type of products will you use on my pets?

We use only premium shampoos and conditioners that are all natural and designed for pets.

However, if you have a shampoo that you prefer I’ll gladly use it on your pet. Some of the different shampoos that I offer are Oatmeal, Hypo-Allergenic, Tearless, and Mango to name a few.

8. Do you have to be home for you to groom my pet?

For the first and second time, yes. When both you, your pet, and I feel comfortable with each other then we can other arrangements for grooming done without your presence.

9. Can you come to my office to groom my pet?

Yes, as long as I can find a legal parking space!

10. What if a client needs to cancel their pet’s appointment?

As long as you notify us 24 hours in advance of your appointment so that I can try and fill this time slot with another client’s pet. If it is less than 24 hours, please call me on my cell (207-831-9128) thus saving me time driving to your residence. If you don’t call to cancel your appointment, a $40.00 fee will be assessed, which must be paid prior to your next appointment.

11. What type of payments do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, and credit cards (Mastercard, and Visa) All grooming fees are to be paid at time of services rendered. Returned check fee is $40.00.

12. Is mobile grooming more expensive that shop grooming?

Yes and no. For the extra money it costs think how much you save in time in your busy schedule and less stress on you and your pet. On average you spend the day working around taking the pet to the salon groomer. You have to drive there, drop off and then pick up at some later time. Meanwhile, your pet sits in a crate for 3-4 hours until the groomer can do them. Your pet can get stressed due to other dogs/cats making noise. With a mobile groomer it’s easy! I come to you, bring the pet to my enclosed vehicle, groom them –which may take 1-2 hours and then they can go right back in the house. No driving, no waiting all day to pick up, no struggling to get the pet to get in the car. Less stress on the pet because you can check on them right in your front yard.

13. Do you need to plug into my electric outlet or use my water?

No, my vehicle is a self-contained unit. I have both warm, fresh water and grey water tanks on board. I will never empty my grey water on your property. I have a generator that provides electricity and the vehicle is climate controlled (a/c for hot days and furnace for cold days).

14. How do I schedule an appointment?

I do have my phone with me during the day but if grooming I don’t answer it because I’m focused on the pet, not the phone. However if you’d like to leave a message I would need the following information:

  • What breed is your pet?
  • What town do you live in?
  • How often do you have your pet groomed?
  • Your name and phone number.
